Slacker!!!!
I wish there was a points tracker for my cell phone. Right now i dont have a computer at work unless I go to the basement and so its out of my way and therefore i havent been as religious about it as i should be.
Hey are we still having that meeting tomorrow??? I havent heard any updates

Im impressed!
Fried fish, BK chicken sandwich and fries, A&W chicken sandwich and onion rings, Lasagna, pizza, mac and cheese (2000 calories per serving and I probably had about 5 servings over the weekend), cake, ice cream, ice cream cake.....keep in mind, I'm supposed to be watching my carbs!!
The good news? I didn't gain a pound! How does that happen? I eat no carbs for one week and loose 4 pounds, do pretty good the next week with the exception of my SIL baby shower and gain 2 pounds and then go hog wild with the carbs and stay the same? Goes to show that our bodies are completely crazy!!

Hope everyone is doing well. I've been watching the Biggest Loser and that's a huge motivation for me. Also eating a Skinny Cow ice cream sandwich every night. Totally helps that sugar craving.

OK, rant over.
I lost 2 lbs this week but like the rest of y'all I'm pretty sure I gained it back at Dawn's! :-) I also got AF today so the week during and after is usually my best weeks. Let's hope!

If Only....
I weighed myself Saturday morning (not my usual weigh in day, but I was curious) and found that I had lost 2 pounds. I was pleased with that. Then I ate dinner at Dawn's house both Saturday night and Sunday night. I couldn't pass up all that yummy food. So this mornings weigh in revealed that I only lost 1.5 pounds. I picked up a half pound at Dawn's house, so she should at least be down a half pound this week, because I have it!!!
Anne
I'll be honest too!
Where did I go wrong on the second half of the week?
~Buffalo Wild Wings - 12 wings, fried and sauce loaded with sugar and carbs!! I tried to make up for it by getting a side salad with fat free ranch instead of the delicious potato wedges dipped in ranch.
~Brownies for church - I signed up to make a treat for the staff at Protsman Elementary School (our church does stuff for the school). I made the brownies in the muffin cups that you stuff with the caramel treasures and then drizzle with chocolate. I ate some of the raw brownie dough :-( I couldn't help myself. It's like it just leaped into my mouth...a couple of times along with the melted chocolate that squirt right in my mouth - I totally screwed up! What in the world was I thinking? It was like I just went crazy for awhile.
~Friday through Sunday I didn't eat as many vegetables either.
Sunday I did better. I stuck to no carbs all day, even for dinner - I didn't eat the flour tortillas with the tacos and I bypassed the chips, dips, crackers and rice. I did help myself to a little dessert, but I only ate 2 bites of each of the 3 desserts.
I promise to get back to it and be strict about it like I did the first 4 days. There's only going to be one problem - I'm going to Indy on Thursday and staying until Sunday. I'm not making my own dinner and I'll be on the run alot - not a good combination. I am also throwing a baby shower for my SIL and there will be lots of yummy things there to eat that will be loaded in carbs. I'm going to try to fill up before hand and hopefully not eat all that junk - we'll see how it all goes down though!
*I joined WW online on June 20th, but I just kind of dabbled in it and didn't do it faithfully, since I joined I have lost 10 pounds total - 4 pounds before we all started our little blog, 2 pounds at the last weigh-in and 4 pounds at today's weigh-in - I'm noticing that my pants are starting to not be so tight - it's nice when you can finally start noticing a difference in clothes and appearance.
LET'S BE HONEST EVERYONE...
Starting today--I vow to be honest w/ my weight watchers points and tracking. I promise myself and publically announce to you that I will be good!!! (Hopefully).
Ohh..yeah..I promise to excercise. KATH

Should I give up?
So before risking it all and giving up I hopped on the scale to find out that I have lost 4 pounds in 4 days all because I cut out the carbs. I felt very proud of myself and have continued to stick with it, unless you count licking the knife after applying cream cheese to Olivia's bagel.
I know that the weight loss for the first two weeks of the SBD is pretty big and then it tapers off, but what a huge jump start!

SEX = Exercise
On the left hand side of the point tracker, where you can put in the the calories and fat grams of a food to calculate it, well there is an activity icon you can click. You give the activity a same, say how long you were performing it and the intensity, then tell it to calculate. To figure out intensity, there was some notes on it in the activity page talking about gaging it on your breathing...so sex would probably be a high intensity activity.
So go have sex and earn more points!!!
Check in time
I started Phase one of the SBD Monday so I have gone 2 whole days without any carbs...not sure if it's the meds I'm on or the diet, but my tummy just isn't agreeing...I'm sure it will take some time. If I don't see a big weight loss this week after all my hard work I am going to be really disappointed!
Weigh In and Pizza

WAY easy on the cheese~just a sprinkling.

It was yummy! We now plan to order that whenever we get the urge to have pizza night. We still got the pizza but it was a lot less bad than slathered in cheese and sausage.

Positive side: I LOST THREE POUNDS IN A HALF HOUR....BEAT THAT!!!!

Here I am
Lost a total of 6 lbs, not very happy about that though. I am not eating BIG MACS like my favorite sister-in-law. I have been staying in my points, and some days under my points and not even hitting half of my extra points. Though I did go over the edge on Sunday and had a BUNCH of CHIPS.
YOU KNOW YOU NEED TO LOOSE WEIGHT WHEN....
1. You try on a size 14 jeans and yell out that they accidentally put a #1 in front of the 4.
2. You try on that cute blouse at Express and you know you will fit into it. Yeah--it's the really cute one that buttons in the front and on the arm but when you actually try it on, you need the butter to get your arms out of it a not one button will reach across your tummy to button. (FAT MAN IN A LITTLE COAT!!--Chris Farley fans will know what this one means.)
3. After a hard day's shopping you stop at Mc Donald's because your starving.
4. The cute jammies I got from the sisters when I was in the hospital don't fit--How could PJ's not fit anyone?????
On the bright side--once I loose weight, it will be a good feeling to actually have to pay to get the new clothes I bought taken in.
It looks as if we are all doing really well---KEEP IT UP GIRLS--

My Weigh In
A bunch of Amish Info
Here's a link to a good website with oodles of point values. I have signed up for WW online which has a great Points calculator. This lady is a bit redneck but has figured out the points to just about every food on the planet! Another great place is this blog. Only on Mondays. She has meal plans and others link to her with all different kinds of meal plans so that is great if you are looking for low points or SBD or whatever.
I don't know if those of you who have done WW before have ever made 1 point snack cake but I made a spice one last night. With 1 scoop of low fat low sugar ice cream it is a 3 point dessert. You just take one box of cake mix and add one liquid. Mix and bake in 13x9 at 350 for 20-30 minutes. It is flatter than a regular cake but a great treat instead of Little Debbies!
Spice cake mix and 1 can of pumpkin
Yellow or white cake mix and 1 can of crushed pinapple or 1 can of Diet Mt Dew
Chocolate with 1 can of Diet Coke or Diet Root Beer

Not Too Bad...
My first weight watchers recipe is in the crock pot now. It's called Sweet and Sour Flank Steak. It called for all sorts of ingredients I have never used in my life, ie: red wine and balsamic vinegar. I'll let you all know how it turns out. It smells really good. For one and a half cups it is 7 points. I'm going to cut mine in half and serve it over rice. I figure it will be more filling that way.
You'll all be suprised to know that I've been eating a lot of salad the last week. Anyone who knows me knows that salad usually makes me quite ill. Since I made it at home, I've been doing quite well. Fat free ranch dressing is awful!!!! Anyone know of any tastier salad dressing?
Anne
It's all Grandpa's fault!
So thanks to Grandpa (and probably some other bad choices this week like Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder) I stayed the same! Didn't loose a single pound...but I didn't gain either so that's good. Better luck this week.
How did everyone else do?

Calories that Don't Count
The following food and situations have no calories to speak of ...
OTHER PEOPLE'S FOOD: A chocolate mousse that you did not order has no calories. Therefore, have your companion order dessert and you taste half of it.
INGREDIENTS IN COOKING: Chocolate chips are fattening, about 50 calories a tablespoon. So are chocolate chip cookies! However, chocolate chips eaten while making chocolate chip cookies have no calories whatsoever. Therefore make chocolate chip cookies often but don't eat them. FOOD ON FOOT: All food eaten while standing has no calories. Exactly why is not clear, but the current theory relates to gravity. The calories apparently bypass the stomach flowing directly down the legs and through the soles of the feet into the floor, like electricity. Walking seems to accelerate this process, so that a frozen custard or hot dog eaten at a carnival actually has a calorie deficit.
CHILDREN'S FOOD: Anything produced, purchased or intended for minors is calorie-free when eaten by adults. This category covers a wide range, beginning with a spoonful of baby tapioca -- consumed for demonstration purposes -- up to and including cookies baked and sent to college.
UNEVEN EDGES: Pies and cakes should be cut neatly, in even wedges or slices. If not, the responsibility falls on the person putting them away to "straighten up the edges" by slicing away the offending irregularities, which have no calories when eaten. If pie or cake is neatly cut, but the remainder is not easily divisible into equal servings, it's also permissible to even things up ... without calorie consequence.
TV FOOD: Anything eaten in front of the TV has no calories. This may have something to do with radiation leakage, which negates not only the calories in the food but also all recollection of having eaten it. Entire no-calorie dinners are now manufactured and frozen for this purpose.
FOOD THAT DOESN'T TASTE GOOD: doesn't count. This is an enormous category covering a diverse range including airline food, cafeteria meals, and dinner at your sister-in-law's. Also dinners manufactured to be eaten in front of the TV.
ANYTHING SMALLER THAN ONE INCH: contains no calories to speak of. For example: chocolate kisses, maraschino cherries, cubes of cheese.
LEFT-HANDED FOOD: If you have a drink in your right hand, anything eaten with the other hand has no calories. Several principles are at work here. First of all, you're probably standing up at a cocktail party (see "Food on Foot"). Then there's the electronic field: a wet glass in one hand forms a negative charge to reverse the polarity of the calories attracted to the other hand. I'm not exactly sure how it works, but it's reversible if you're left-handed.
CHARITABLE FOODS: Girl Guide cookies, bake sale cookies, ice cream socials and church strawberry festivals all have a religious dispensation from calories. It's in the Bible.
CAKES WITH WRITING ON THEM: Primarily fat, starch and sugar, all cakes are horrendously fattening. However, the calories can be eliminated simply by inscribing "Happy Birthday, Charlie" or "Good Luck, Alice" in colored icing. Not only is it unnecessary to decline, it's impolite.
FOOD ON TOOTHPICKS: Sausages, cocktail franks, cheese and the like are all fattening unless impaled on frilled toothpicks. The insertion of a sharp object allows the calories to leak out the bottom.
LEFTOVERS: An extra pork chop, the crust of bread, half a Twinkie, anything intended for the garbage has no calories regardless of what happens to it in the kitchen.
FOOD EATEN QUICKLY: If you are rushed through a meal, the entire meal doesn't count. Conversely, if you have ordered something fattening and now regret it, you can minimize its calories by gulping it down.
CUSTOM MADE FOOD: Anything somebody made "just for you" must be eaten regardless of the calories because to do otherwise would be uncaring and insensitive. Your kind intentions will not go unrewarded. (See "Charitable Foods.")

How's Everyone Doing and What's Everyone Eating?
So what is everyone eating for breakfasts? Ideas?
~Jen
Friday, September 7, 2007
South Beach Diet
"Take a potato, for instance. An incredible versatile vegetable. You can do a hundred things with it, from soup to vodka. And what you do with it determines how fattening it is.
The worst way, from the glycemic index perspective? Baked. The process of baking it renders the starches most easily accessible to your digestive system.
Slightly better? Believe it or not, that baked potato will be less fattening topped with a dollop of low-fat cheese or sour cream. The calorie count will be slightly higher, but the fat contained in the cheese or sour cream will slow down the digestive process, thereby lessening the amount of insulin the potato prompts your body to make.
Still, don't think that when you're at the mall and stop for a quick baked potato at one of those franchise places that you're having a healthy snack. A baked potato in mid afternoon practically guarantees that you'll be starving for carbs by dinner. You'd be better off having a small ice cream or even a dark chocolate bar instead of that baked potato.
Better than baked? Mashed or boiled, due to the difference in the cooking process, but also because you'd probably eat them with a little butter or sour cream, and the fat slows the digestive process. Even french fries are better than baked, believe it or not, because of the fat in which they're cooked. Of course, the same is true of potato chips, but don't be misled: None of these are good choices for someone on the SBD. The type of potato you eat is also a big factor in all this. Red-skinned potatoes are highest in carbs. White-skinned are better. New potatoes, better yet - in every vegetable or fruit, the younger when picked, the lower the carb count. If you must indulge, do so sparingly. And try sweet potatoes instead of white."
I always went for the baked potato with NO butter and as little amount of sour cream as possible and even tried to stomach the fat free sour cream - DISGUSTING!
On a different note - I went to Red Robin with some girlfriends last night and here's what I ordered - Cheeseburger with NO bun, only one slice of cheese (instead of the normal 2 that they put on each burger), extra tomato, extra pickle, extra onion and lettuce. Did not use ketchup because of the hidden sugar in ketchup. I opted for the fries because I starved myself all day so that I could have them and I gave up a little on the cheeseburger so I could have them. And to add more fat to the potato (french fry) to make the digestion slow down I dipped them in Ranch...I just couldn't help myself. I tried not to - I didn't order the ranch with my meal, but after seeing those beautiful fries in the basket with no ranch to dip them in I got a little weepy and asked for the tub of ranch...on a good note though - I only used half the tub, in the past I would have sucked it dry and quite possible asked for a back-up tub! It was delicious and I don't feel too guilty because I stayed within my points. When I start phase one of the SBD I won't be able to do that...I'll have to skip those beautiful fries all together :-(

You Can Say Potato...I say FRIES!!
Any who..... I was asking Leenie if fries counted as a serving for vegetables. Potatoes are vegetables, right? I think a medium fry should count for 2 servings!!! And do not forget the healthy oil the fries are cooked in should count as an oil serving. Yes, I am in denial.

A Dieter's Prayer
I found this online...
A Dieter's Prayer
Lord, My soul is ripped with riot
incited by my wicked diet.
"We Are What We Eat," said a wise old man!
and, Lord, if that's true, I'm a garbage can.
I want to rise on Judgment Day, that's plain!
but at my present weight, I'll need a crane.
So grant me strength, that I may not fall
into the clutches of cholesterol.
May my flesh with carrot-curls be dated,
that my soul may be poly unsaturated
And show me the light, that I may bear witness
to the President's Council on Physical Fitness.
And at margarine I'll never mutter,
for the road to Hell is spread with butter.
And cream is cursed; and cake is awful;
and Satan is hiding in every waffle.
Mephistopheles lurks in provolone;
the Devil is in each slice of baloney,
Beelzebub is a chocolate drop,
and Lucifer is a lollipop.
Give me this day my daily slice
but, cut it thin and toast it twice.
I beg upon my dimpled knees,
deliver me from jujubees.
And when my days of trial are done,
and my war with malted milk is won,
Let me stand with Heavenly throng,
In a shining robe--size 30 long.
I can do it Lord, If You'll show to me,
the virtues of lettuce and celery.
If You'll teach me the evil of mayonnaise,
of pasta a la Milannaise
potatoes a la Lyonnaise
and crisp-fried chicken from the South.
Lord, if you love me, shut my mouth.
Amen
It's about to get a little harder
Many of you have asked Brian and I over the past 13 months what you can do for us to help us...well, you are all doing it now by supporting me. I promise to help you all stay motivated and I'm asking that all of you help keep me motivated and hold me accountable.
So from now until September 17th I am decreasing my carb and sugar intake. Starting on September 17th I will be doing phase one of the South Beach Diet for two weeks - during that two weeks I have to cut out ALL carbs and sugars - YIKES!!! After the two weeks on Phase one I will start adding "good" carbs back into my diet on Phase two - this lasts until I reach my weight loss goal...basically a very long time!!
Fish Tacos and Other Goodies
So I was talking to Ree Ree last night about how we're eating. What is everyone making for dinner? I read stuff about how to cut calories and fat but we're already doing all of that. I guess portions is the biggest for me. I am a quantity eater. I would rather have 4 cups of plain popcorn than one tiny bite of a brownie. I am also trying really hard to get my fruits. I have no problem with veggies since I make at least 2 with dinner but fruit is hard. I do not like to take the time to prep it and the easy stuff like bananas or apples I don't really like. So what are some snack ideas?
And I am not going to the mall today since my Gymboree coupon didn't arrive in the mail yesterday. I will hopefully go tomorrow.
