UH..OH

Judging by the way my jeans fit, I'd say I've gained back most of the weight I've lost. I refuse to get on a scale until Monday(my usual weigh in day). I am really going to try hard now. I mean it! I look at pictures of myself on all your blogs and I look so....round! Once I can breathe normally again, I'm going to start exercising. I have a really good tape that I used to do 5 years ago when I lost a ton of weight. Hopefully it will work again, with dieting of course! Maybe I'll even go outside and walk.. someone said fresh air is good. Stay tuned!

HELLOOO

Hey everyone. I'm still here. I will not go down without a fight. I have been trying to lay off the sauce(halloween candy). I managed to lose another half pound this week. I am no where near my goal, but I guess it's better than nothing. Anyone else out there??

Happy Halloween!

Is everyone gearing up for the big day tomorrow? I had to practice keeping my blood sugar elevated by eating a row of cookies today. I have no idea why I did that. I lost half a pound this week, too. Oh well, between tomorrow, couch day, Wicked, and small group, I am DOOMED!!!!

Where is everyone???

Hellooo! Anyone out there? Are we still doing this thing? I didn't lose any weight this week, but I didn't gain any either. I'm really going to try hard this week. I can finally fit in my jeans now. Back in August I couldn't get them over my hips. I guess that's something to be happy about. How is everyone else doing??

Me Too

Up three pounds myself. I have no excuse. I didn't count my points the entire previous week. I was good most days, but since I didn't count points, I'm sure I was off a few each day. (like 40!) I'll do better next week!

Slacker!!!!

Yeah things deffinately arent going as good as i had hoped. I havent weighed in yet this week because i've been sick, but in the month ive done this it hasnt been very productive. Ive been fluctuatting alot and have lost a total of 1lb....ONE FREAKIN POUND!!!! a month and thats all i manage. I admitt i have been bad the past 2 weeks...using all my points on fast food and slacking on my vegitables.

I wish there was a points tracker for my cell phone. Right now i dont have a computer at work unless I go to the basement and so its out of my way and therefore i havent been as religious about it as i should be.

Hey are we still having that meeting tomorrow??? I havent heard any updates

Monday, October 8, 2007

Im impressed!

I did horrible last week! I mean absolutely horrible!
Fried fish, BK chicken sandwich and fries, A&W chicken sandwich and onion rings, Lasagna, pizza, mac and cheese (2000 calories per serving and I probably had about 5 servings over the weekend), cake, ice cream, ice cream cake.....keep in mind, I'm supposed to be watching my carbs!!
The good news? I didn't gain a pound! How does that happen? I eat no carbs for one week and loose 4 pounds, do pretty good the next week with the exception of my SIL baby shower and gain 2 pounds and then go hog wild with the carbs and stay the same? Goes to show that our bodies are completely crazy!!
Shawnie

SLOOOOOW...

This is not going as fast as I'd like. It seems like I started this diet 6 months ago instead of last month!! I am down 1.5 pounds this week after nothing for a few weeks. I am down a total of 8 pounds. It seems like last time I was on this diet I dropped weight a lot faster. I guess if a lose 8 pounds a month, by Christmas I'll be down around 24 pounds. I guess that is something to look forward to. That will also be half way to my goal.

KATH'S STATUS

No status-no weight gain which I guess is a good thing since I ate like a pig at small group last night and at Olivia's Birthday party. I have to say---that mac and cheese was really good- and the birthday cake and the----ok - I could go on forever.

See everyone at our meeting on Thursday at Applebee's at 7:30!

Jen's Update

Weighed in today. I'm down 1.5 for a total of 7.8. My new jeans are falling off but I'm still nowhere near pre-Wyatt jeans. Ugh. That's my goal by Thanksgiving. Pre-Wyatt jeans.

Hope everyone is doing well. I've been watching the Biggest Loser and that's a huge motivation for me. Also eating a Skinny Cow ice cream sandwich every night. Totally helps that sugar craving.

Now to go eat all Shawnie's good food for Miss O's party!

Dawn's progress....

Ok, this week it's only been 1 lb--6 lbs. total Just waiting for the pants to start falling off instead of the bra!

Tuesday, October 2, 2007

I am sick of this.....

After gaining 2lbs last week, because of eating at Red Lobster & Schererville Lounge, & not the healthy stuff at either place. Even though I did not go over my flex points. I need to start eating more green stuff and fruit. So, I was on a mission this week, I worked out for 30 minutes, 5 days last week (i did that the week before-that did not seem to help). I lost 5lbs this week for a total of 9. I am still not very happy about it. But i guess it was better then gaining. After cutting out pepsi, to only one can a day, if even. I thought I would lose alot faster.

Anne's Progress....or lack thereof

I stayed the same. It must have been the stuffed pizza from Arrenello's. I ate two pieces and counted them in my points, but I think I may not have added enough points. Once again, I used all my flex points and didn't lose a pound. I really can't use those, I guess. On the bright side, my clothes are starting to loosen up a bit~just not enough to buy new pants yet!
Anne

This blows!

What a waste! I did really good in the beginning of the week...then I went to Indy. I didn't do horribly, but I didn't do great. I think it was probably the baby shower! I did good and didn't eat any cake, but I couldn't stop drinking the punch - after a week and a half with no carbs, I was like a kid in the candy store with the punch. Then came the chocolate chip cheese ball - OMG was it good!
The end result...+2 :-(

In-laws and Outlaws

Do you know why I want to lose the weight? To shut up my mother-in-law. (Well, oodles of other reasons too, but right now that is a biggie!) Let me preface by saying, I do love my MIL. I do not have in-law issues like so many have. My in-laws can be annoying but overall are loving and supportive. That being said, when it comes to weight issues my MIL DRIVES. ME. CRAZY. She makes cracks about my eating habits, being too fat for her beloved son, eating out too much (more than once a year is too much) I know I need to lose weight. I do not need my mother in law to remind me of this! The kicker? She is bigger than me! I am the skinniest adult in the family. I also want to do it the old-fashioned way. Eating healthy and exercise. MIL is always trying to talk me and my SIL into Atkins since "So and so lost 500 pounds on it!" Ugh.

OK, rant over.

I lost 2 lbs this week but like the rest of y'all I'm pretty sure I gained it back at Dawn's! :-) I also got AF today so the week during and after is usually my best weeks. Let's hope!

If Only....

If only I could close my mouth and not put any food into it... If only I didn't day dream about eating bbq ribs, steak, cheeseburgers, fries...If only I didn't eat all those things in the first place so I'd have to be on this stupid diet....If only I were one of those freaky people who could eat anything and not gain an ounce....If only they made fat free, calorie free Chips a Hoy cookies....If only my size was the new size of all super models.....If only someone prepared my meals everyday and told me how many points I was putting in my mouth....
I weighed myself Saturday morning (not my usual weigh in day, but I was curious) and found that I had lost 2 pounds. I was pleased with that. Then I ate dinner at Dawn's house both Saturday night and Sunday night. I couldn't pass up all that yummy food. So this mornings weigh in revealed that I only lost 1.5 pounds. I picked up a half pound at Dawn's house, so she should at least be down a half pound this week, because I have it!!!
Anne

I'll be honest too!

Okay, so I lost 4 pounds this week, but that was done in the first 4 days - what happened during the other 3? Honestly? I didn't do so great! This no carb this is killing me.
Where did I go wrong on the second half of the week?
~Buffalo Wild Wings - 12 wings, fried and sauce loaded with sugar and carbs!! I tried to make up for it by getting a side salad with fat free ranch instead of the delicious potato wedges dipped in ranch.
~Brownies for church - I signed up to make a treat for the staff at Protsman Elementary School (our church does stuff for the school). I made the brownies in the muffin cups that you stuff with the caramel treasures and then drizzle with chocolate. I ate some of the raw brownie dough :-( I couldn't help myself. It's like it just leaped into my mouth...a couple of times along with the melted chocolate that squirt right in my mouth - I totally screwed up! What in the world was I thinking? It was like I just went crazy for awhile.
~Friday through Sunday I didn't eat as many vegetables either.

Sunday I did better. I stuck to no carbs all day, even for dinner - I didn't eat the flour tortillas with the tacos and I bypassed the chips, dips, crackers and rice. I did help myself to a little dessert, but I only ate 2 bites of each of the 3 desserts.

I promise to get back to it and be strict about it like I did the first 4 days. There's only going to be one problem - I'm going to Indy on Thursday and staying until Sunday. I'm not making my own dinner and I'll be on the run alot - not a good combination. I am also throwing a baby shower for my SIL and there will be lots of yummy things there to eat that will be loaded in carbs. I'm going to try to fill up before hand and hopefully not eat all that junk - we'll see how it all goes down though!

*I joined WW online on June 20th, but I just kind of dabbled in it and didn't do it faithfully, since I joined I have lost 10 pounds total - 4 pounds before we all started our little blog, 2 pounds at the last weigh-in and 4 pounds at today's weigh-in - I'm noticing that my pants are starting to not be so tight - it's nice when you can finally start noticing a difference in clothes and appearance.

LET'S BE HONEST EVERYONE...

OK- I only lost 2lbs this week. I totally deserve to only loose that because I was not honest to the weight watcher point tracker. I know am personally going to make sure I track and become stricter to the system. Yes, last night I blew it w/ 2 helpings of dessert. However, I'm not eating all the right foods and tracking the portions correctly. I know that the salad dressing I guessed was 2 tblsps, really is probably 25. The burger I ate on Sat really was probably 50 points (I didn't eat the bun), however, I only calculated by "guessing" it was only 15 points.

Starting today--I vow to be honest w/ my weight watchers points and tracking. I promise myself and publically announce to you that I will be good!!! (Hopefully).
Ohh..yeah..I promise to excercise. KATH

Should I give up?

This morning I really contemplated giving up the no carb thing...it's literately making me sick! By the time dinner rolls around I don't want to look at another piece of meat or veggies. I really wanted to get up this morning and have a big fat waffle covered in sugary syrup and butter or a bagel with Cream cheese. I have also been craving applesauce...just regular old applesauce, I'll even take the natural kind with no additives - I just want applesauce.
So before risking it all and giving up I hopped on the scale to find out that I have lost 4 pounds in 4 days all because I cut out the carbs. I felt very proud of myself and have continued to stick with it, unless you count licking the knife after applying cream cheese to Olivia's bagel.
I know that the weight loss for the first two weeks of the SBD is pretty big and then it tapers off, but what a huge jump start!

SEX = Exercise

Ok ladies, so its been pointed out that sex is not included in the activity list for points, but I figured out how to calculate it!

On the left hand side of the point tracker, where you can put in the the calories and fat grams of a food to calculate it, well there is an activity icon you can click. You give the activity a same, say how long you were performing it and the intensity, then tell it to calculate. To figure out intensity, there was some notes on it in the activity page talking about gaging it on your breathing...so sex would probably be a high intensity activity.

So go have sex and earn more points!!!

Check in time

Not an incredible week, but I did lose 2 pounds so I guess I should post it.
I started Phase one of the SBD Monday so I have gone 2 whole days without any carbs...not sure if it's the meds I'm on or the diet, but my tummy just isn't agreeing...I'm sure it will take some time. If I don't see a big weight loss this week after all my hard work I am going to be really disappointed!

Weigh In and Pizza

I did pretty OK for the first week. Down from 161.3 to 156.7 so that's 4.6. Not too bad but I hate weeks 2 and 3. I had a long day with the kids today so when Tim got home all I wanted was PIZZA! So we talked and agreed to do pizza but as healthy as we could. We are both veggie lovers but he wants meat. He always says "Something on my plate has to have had a mother." So we compromise and got chicken. We ordered from the brand new Zuni's here by us.

Thin crust
Easy sauce
WAY easy on the cheese~just a sprinkling.
Chicken
Garlic
Onion
Broccoli
Mushroom

It was yummy! We now plan to order that whenever we get the urge to have pizza night. We still got the pizza but it was a lot less bad than slathered in cheese and sausage.

Jen

WTF?

Ok, was having a good day....met my friend Diandra for dinner.......before I could make it home..the volcano errupted....sat in the bathroom for about a half hour....went into the kitchen..slipped on water...fell on my face...literally, got a lenolium burn on my chin, a scrap on my arm...soon to be bruised up knees!

Positive side: I LOST THREE POUNDS IN A HALF HOUR....BEAT THAT!!!!

MEGS

Here I am

Water was mine, I guess it did not work, new to this blogging. Water sucks. I am sick of peeing every 10 minutes.

Lost a total of 6 lbs, not very happy about that though. I am not eating BIG MACS like my favorite sister-in-law. I have been staying in my points, and some days under my points and not even hitting half of my extra points. Though I did go over the edge on Sunday and had a BUNCH of CHIPS.

YOU KNOW YOU NEED TO LOOSE WEIGHT WHEN....

I was lucky to loose weight-3 lbs this week- HOWEVER--I know I need to loose weight because..
1. You try on a size 14 jeans and yell out that they accidentally put a #1 in front of the 4.
2. You try on that cute blouse at Express and you know you will fit into it. Yeah--it's the really cute one that buttons in the front and on the arm but when you actually try it on, you need the butter to get your arms out of it a not one button will reach across your tummy to button. (FAT MAN IN A LITTLE COAT!!--Chris Farley fans will know what this one means.)
3. After a hard day's shopping you stop at Mc Donald's because your starving.
4. The cute jammies I got from the sisters when I was in the hospital don't fit--How could PJ's not fit anyone?????

On the bright side--once I loose weight, it will be a good feeling to actually have to pay to get the new clothes I bought taken in.

It looks as if we are all doing really well---KEEP IT UP GIRLS--

Oh Yeah---WERE THE HELL IS KELLY O'NEILL------????? KATH

Where's the Lucky Charms!!??X

OK, thought I'd do the "healthy" thing and get Special K. I actually like the one with strawberries, so I thought I'd go out on a limb and get the fruit and yogurt one. IT WAS AWFUL! No taste whatsoever. I'm going back to Lucky Charms!

So birthdays just screw up your points. I saved up all my weekly points for my b-day. I didnt really bother counting, but I think I managed to use all my points and then some on alcohol alone! I cant even imagine counting the munchies. Parties and WW just dont go together, even if everything is made w low points! Well now that the birthday is over its time to get back on track.

Rehab

I really think I should start thinking about seeking some help....had a major relapse today....I don't want to scare anyone but I will say that McDonalds and Starbucks were involved.

Megs

I'm Stressed

OK. I just have been noticing how much I want to eat when I am stressed out. Case in point~ we were on our way to our first social worker visit for the adoption, and all I could think about was how much I wanted a Whopper with cheese. Then, I took a short nap on Thursday before working midnights, woke up, and found that someone had gotten RED SHARPIE marker all over the toilet seat. Looks like someone hemorrhaged to death. I raced to the cabinet for "a row", only to remember the dang diet. So now that I am dieting, I have the almost daily urge to go shopping. I think I'm trading one addiction for another. Which is worse, to look good and be poor, or to have money and look like crap???

Grumble Grumble

HAlF HOUR TILL WE LEAVE FOR APPLEBEES!!! HELL YA!!!

Where the Hell is Kelly O'Neill?

Hello? Kelly? Are you out there?

I'm not a looser!

While the rest of you might be loosers - I'm not!! I know you're not supposed to, but I stepped on the scale again today, not my weigh in day, and I am still not a looser! I figured since grandpa's might have thrown my weigh-in off last week I thought I'd see what all my hard work this week has done for me...not a damn thing! I've done really good too - I've walked 3 times this week, still have 28.5 of my "extra" points to use, I've made healthy choices...and it hasn't paid off! Anyone ever feel like it's never going to work? This sucks!

Hey Food - Classic Sesame Street

OK! so i finally got on. I'm surviving the first day, I forgot for about it at one point though walking through the house and scarfed down some leftover french fries from my dad's dinner. 2 whole points wasted on about 5 french fries..definitely not worth it! I am finding some good options though. Salsa=0 points, yay! Oh and I was looking up recipes and found this site you ladies might find useful. Its even got the WW points figured out for an broken down for each ingredient.

I'm really excited about joining you and I'm confidant that this is gonna work. I think support like this, especially from people I know is just what I need.

~Katie

My Weigh In

OK- I weighed yesterday but didn't get a chance to post. I lost 4lbs. As you can see below from Shawnie's post, I probably would have lost a bit more but Grandpa screwed us. (umm..should I say the Husbands did since we were supposed to go before the diets started.) I just made a pretty good dinner. Popped 3 chicken breasts in the crock post with some BBQ sauce, made a huge salad w/ tons of veggies and low fat cheese and dressing and wha-la---Dinner. I also had some cottage cheese. YUM-Kath

A bunch of Amish Info

Hey all~

Here's a link to a good website with oodles of point values. I have signed up for WW online which has a great Points calculator. This lady is a bit redneck but has figured out the points to just about every food on the planet! Another great place is this blog. Only on Mondays. She has meal plans and others link to her with all different kinds of meal plans so that is great if you are looking for low points or SBD or whatever.

I don't know if those of you who have done WW before have ever made 1 point snack cake but I made a spice one last night. With 1 scoop of low fat low sugar ice cream it is a 3 point dessert. You just take one box of cake mix and add one liquid. Mix and bake in 13x9 at 350 for 20-30 minutes. It is flatter than a regular cake but a great treat instead of Little Debbies!

Spice cake mix and 1 can of pumpkin
Yellow or white cake mix and 1 can of crushed pinapple or 1 can of Diet Mt Dew
Chocolate with 1 can of Diet Coke or Diet Root Beer

Katie is here!!

My First Week

I have to say, my first week went prettty well. (Besides the fact it was harder than hell) I think I am through the final stages of ice cream and snack withdrawl. Everytime I felt the urge for some junk food, I would shove a whole bunch of carrotts in my mouth. Not the same, but it did the trick. I went through a bag and a half this week alone. Started walking along with dance class...love this because it gives me extra points!!! Well all in all, I'm pretty excited. Lost one pound! Never thought I'd say this: can't wait until school tommarrow. (keeps my mind off of food)hahaha

Megzy

Not Too Bad...

Well, I weighed in this morning and found out I lost 5 pounds over the last week. I was pretty pleased. Of course, I attribute this loss to not eating a row of cookies a day. That's got to easily be a pound of cookies in my stomach every day. So I really should have lost 7 pounds ;)

My first weight watchers recipe is in the crock pot now. It's called Sweet and Sour Flank Steak. It called for all sorts of ingredients I have never used in my life, ie: red wine and balsamic vinegar. I'll let you all know how it turns out. It smells really good. For one and a half cups it is 7 points. I'm going to cut mine in half and serve it over rice. I figure it will be more filling that way.

You'll all be suprised to know that I've been eating a lot of salad the last week. Anyone who knows me knows that salad usually makes me quite ill. Since I made it at home, I've been doing quite well. Fat free ranch dressing is awful!!!! Anyone know of any tastier salad dressing?

Anne

It's all Grandpa's fault!

So Brian and Dan finally decided to take their families to Aubelos since they had been promising us this since the night we went to "look" at 4-wheelers. I'm a little irritated that they had to do this once we started WW and couldn't fully enjoy the experience! We really tried to stay healthy. I went for the fajitas changing the flour tortillas to corn tortillas. I used very little cheese, sour cream and guacamole...it sucked! It just wasn't the same, but I was starving so I scarfed it down. The service was horrible, our waitress couldn't understand English and most of our dinners came out wrong. We had to ask her several times for everything we needed. When the manager stopped by and asked how everything was going we told her it was pretty bad...then came the dessert! No one in their right mind could turn down free dessert...I couldn't resist the Dulce de Leche cheesecake - it was beautiful and amazing!!
So thanks to Grandpa (and probably some other bad choices this week like Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder) I stayed the same! Didn't loose a single pound...but I didn't gain either so that's good. Better luck this week.

How did everyone else do?

Calories that Don't Count

Since this has come up a few times I thought I'd clarify.

The following food and situations have no calories to speak of ...
OTHER PEOPLE'S FOOD: A chocolate mousse that you did not order has no calories. Therefore, have your companion order dessert and you taste half of it.
INGREDIENTS IN COOKING: Chocolate chips are fattening, about 50 calories a tablespoon. So are chocolate chip cookies! However, chocolate chips eaten while making chocolate chip cookies have no calories whatsoever. Therefore make chocolate chip cookies often but don't eat them. FOOD ON FOOT: All food eaten while standing has no calories. Exactly why is not clear, but the current theory relates to gravity. The calories apparently bypass the stomach flowing directly down the legs and through the soles of the feet into the floor, like electricity. Walking seems to accelerate this process, so that a frozen custard or hot dog eaten at a carnival actually has a calorie deficit.
CHILDREN'S FOOD: Anything produced, purchased or intended for minors is calorie-free when eaten by adults. This category covers a wide range, beginning with a spoonful of baby tapioca -- consumed for demonstration purposes -- up to and including cookies baked and sent to college.
UNEVEN EDGES: Pies and cakes should be cut neatly, in even wedges or slices. If not, the responsibility falls on the person putting them away to "straighten up the edges" by slicing away the offending irregularities, which have no calories when eaten. If pie or cake is neatly cut, but the remainder is not easily divisible into equal servings, it's also permissible to even things up ... without calorie consequence.
TV FOOD: Anything eaten in front of the TV has no calories. This may have something to do with radiation leakage, which negates not only the calories in the food but also all recollection of having eaten it. Entire no-calorie dinners are now manufactured and frozen for this purpose.
FOOD THAT DOESN'T TASTE GOOD: doesn't count. This is an enormous category covering a diverse range including airline food, cafeteria meals, and dinner at your sister-in-law's. Also dinners manufactured to be eaten in front of the TV.
ANYTHING SMALLER THAN ONE INCH: contains no calories to speak of. For example: chocolate kisses, maraschino cherries, cubes of cheese.
LEFT-HANDED FOOD: If you have a drink in your right hand, anything eaten with the other hand has no calories. Several principles are at work here. First of all, you're probably standing up at a cocktail party (see "Food on Foot"). Then there's the electronic field: a wet glass in one hand forms a negative charge to reverse the polarity of the calories attracted to the other hand. I'm not exactly sure how it works, but it's reversible if you're left-handed.
CHARITABLE FOODS: Girl Guide cookies, bake sale cookies, ice cream socials and church strawberry festivals all have a religious dispensation from calories. It's in the Bible.
CAKES WITH WRITING ON THEM: Primarily fat, starch and sugar, all cakes are horrendously fattening. However, the calories can be eliminated simply by inscribing "Happy Birthday, Charlie" or "Good Luck, Alice" in colored icing. Not only is it unnecessary to decline, it's impolite.
FOOD ON TOOTHPICKS: Sausages, cocktail franks, cheese and the like are all fattening unless impaled on frilled toothpicks. The insertion of a sharp object allows the calories to leak out the bottom.
LEFTOVERS: An extra pork chop, the crust of bread, half a Twinkie, anything intended for the garbage has no calories regardless of what happens to it in the kitchen.
FOOD EATEN QUICKLY: If you are rushed through a meal, the entire meal doesn't count. Conversely, if you have ordered something fattening and now regret it, you can minimize its calories by gulping it down.
CUSTOM MADE FOOD: Anything somebody made "just for you" must be eaten regardless of the calories because to do otherwise would be uncaring and insensitive. Your kind intentions will not go unrewarded. (See "Charitable Foods.")

How's Everyone Doing and What's Everyone Eating?

Hope everyone's week is going well. Or is it good? I never can get that one right! I'm doing OK, struggling with meal ideas and such. We went to Schoops for breakfast this AM~as we do every Sat. Not a treat we are willing to give up so we had to make it work. Denver omelets with Egg Beaters and FF cheese. Hash browns with no butter. Iced tea with Sweet and Low. I figured it to be about 6 points. I just had a Lean Cusine pizza and pretzels. We are also going to give up Diet Coke and Mt Dew. We have about 3 12 packs left in the garage and when they are gone that's it! I will still order it at restaurants and such but at home it's water or iced tea. We are going to run to Target later to buy a scale and probably grab Subway for dinner. We eat out WAAAAY too much on the weekends.

So what is everyone eating for breakfasts? Ideas?

DOES IT COUNT????????

If you eat something and an hour later it just comes out the other end?

South Beach Diet

To add to a previous comment on a post I wanted to take something directly from the SBD book for all to read.
"Take a potato, for instance. An incredible versatile vegetable. You can do a hundred things with it, from soup to vodka. And what you do with it determines how fattening it is.
The worst way, from the glycemic index perspective? Baked. The process of baking it renders the starches most easily accessible to your digestive system.
Slightly better? Believe it or not, that baked potato will be less fattening topped with a dollop of low-fat cheese or sour cream. The calorie count will be slightly higher, but the fat contained in the cheese or sour cream will slow down the digestive process, thereby lessening the amount of insulin the potato prompts your body to make.
Still, don't think that when you're at the mall and stop for a quick baked potato at one of those franchise places that you're having a healthy snack. A baked potato in mid afternoon practically guarantees that you'll be starving for carbs by dinner. You'd be better off having a small ice cream or even a dark chocolate bar instead of that baked potato.
Better than baked? Mashed or boiled, due to the difference in the cooking process, but also because you'd probably eat them with a little butter or sour cream, and the fat slows the digestive process. Even french fries are better than baked, believe it or not, because of the fat in which they're cooked. Of course, the same is true of potato chips, but don't be misled: None of these are good choices for someone on the SBD. The type of potato you eat is also a big factor in all this. Red-skinned potatoes are highest in carbs. White-skinned are better. New potatoes, better yet - in every vegetable or fruit, the younger when picked, the lower the carb count. If you must indulge, do so sparingly. And try sweet potatoes instead of white."

I always went for the baked potato with NO butter and as little amount of sour cream as possible and even tried to stomach the fat free sour cream - DISGUSTING!

On a different note - I went to Red Robin with some girlfriends last night and here's what I ordered - Cheeseburger with NO bun, only one slice of cheese (instead of the normal 2 that they put on each burger), extra tomato, extra pickle, extra onion and lettuce. Did not use ketchup because of the hidden sugar in ketchup. I opted for the fries because I starved myself all day so that I could have them and I gave up a little on the cheeseburger so I could have them. And to add more fat to the potato (french fry) to make the digestion slow down I dipped them in Ranch...I just couldn't help myself. I tried not to - I didn't order the ranch with my meal, but after seeing those beautiful fries in the basket with no ranch to dip them in I got a little weepy and asked for the tub of ranch...on a good note though - I only used half the tub, in the past I would have sucked it dry and quite possible asked for a back-up tub! It was delicious and I don't feel too guilty because I stayed within my points. When I start phase one of the SBD I won't be able to do that...I'll have to skip those beautiful fries all together :-(

KELLY- YOU GO GIRL

OK---since Kelly is going to be shy--I'm going to post one of her greatest achievements in O'Neill history. If you know the O'Neill's like I do--they are chip lovers. (Abbey has lovingly inherited this trait.) Anyway- Kelly told me she has a huge urge to eat chips- went to the cabinet- ate just one measily little chip and marched herself out the front door and left the house to resist the urge to eat more. GOOD JOB KELLY--YOU GO GIRL! Kath

KATH'S REAL BEFORE PICTURE

MEG'S BEFORE PICTURES

You Can Say Potato...I say FRIES!!

Since my life has been spent either in the car or the hospital the last three days, I did the unthinkable! Yes, I stopped at Burger King. Actually I added up the points and I still have some left for today. Haven't even touched the flex points yet.
Any who..... I was asking Leenie if fries counted as a serving for vegetables. Potatoes are vegetables, right? I think a medium fry should count for 2 servings!!! And do not forget the healthy oil the fries are cooked in should count as an oil serving. Yes, I am in denial.
Anne

mmm...mmm...good!

WW just came out with a chicken & cheese quesadilla smart ones. There's two in each box and each one is only 4 points. I just had one and they are really good!!

A Dieter's Prayer

I found this online...

A Dieter's Prayer

Lord, My soul is ripped with riot

incited by my wicked diet.

"We Are What We Eat," said a wise old man!

and, Lord, if that's true, I'm a garbage can.

I want to rise on Judgment Day, that's plain!

but at my present weight, I'll need a crane.

So grant me strength, that I may not fall

into the clutches of cholesterol.

May my flesh with carrot-curls be dated,

that my soul may be poly unsaturated

And show me the light, that I may bear witness

to the President's Council on Physical Fitness.

And at margarine I'll never mutter,

for the road to Hell is spread with butter.

And cream is cursed; and cake is awful;

and Satan is hiding in every waffle.

Mephistopheles lurks in provolone;

the Devil is in each slice of baloney,

Beelzebub is a chocolate drop,

and Lucifer is a lollipop.

Give me this day my daily slice

but, cut it thin and toast it twice.

I beg upon my dimpled knees,

deliver me from jujubees.

And when my days of trial are done,

and my war with malted milk is won,

Let me stand with Heavenly throng,

In a shining robe--size 30 long.

I can do it Lord, If You'll show to me,

the virtues of lettuce and celery.

If You'll teach me the evil of mayonnaise,

of pasta a la Milannaise

potatoes a la Lyonnaise

and crisp-fried chicken from the South.

Lord, if you love me, shut my mouth.

Amen

It's about to get a little harder

As if WW isn't hard enough...I'm now throwing the South Beach Diet into the mix. Since we now know that the source of my infertility is PCOS I would benefit greatly from the South Beach Diet. PCOS is a hormonal imbalance linked to the way the body processes insulin after it has been produced by the pancreas to regulate blood sugar. The increased insulin in my system causes numerous problems including being overweight, inability to loose weight effectively & infertility. If I decrease my carbohydrate and sugar intake I have a better chance of reversing the symptoms associated with PCOS, thus successfully loosing weight and conceiving.
Many of you have asked Brian and I over the past 13 months what you can do for us to help us...well, you are all doing it now by supporting me. I promise to help you all stay motivated and I'm asking that all of you help keep me motivated and hold me accountable.
So from now until September 17th I am decreasing my carb and sugar intake. Starting on September 17th I will be doing phase one of the South Beach Diet for two weeks - during that two weeks I have to cut out ALL carbs and sugars - YIKES!!! After the two weeks on Phase one I will start adding "good" carbs back into my diet on Phase two - this lasts until I reach my weight loss goal...basically a very long time!!

Fish Tacos and Other Goodies

OK, so y'all think I'm nuts for fish tacos. There were YUM. Go to my recipe blog which has that recipe and lots more. Or at least will soon.

So I was talking to Ree Ree last night about how we're eating. What is everyone making for dinner? I read stuff about how to cut calories and fat but we're already doing all of that. I guess portions is the biggest for me. I am a quantity eater. I would rather have 4 cups of plain popcorn than one tiny bite of a brownie. I am also trying really hard to get my fruits. I have no problem with veggies since I make at least 2 with dinner but fruit is hard. I do not like to take the time to prep it and the easy stuff like bananas or apples I don't really like. So what are some snack ideas?

And I am not going to the mall today since my Gymboree coupon didn't arrive in the mail yesterday. I will hopefully go tomorrow.

Before photos

So have any of you tried to post a before photo? I tried today and it compressed the photo and I looked like a 600 pound umpa lumpa...not pretty! So I just don't think it's going to work to post our before photos on the sidebar. I am going to take all of our names off of the sidebar and each of you can post a before photo(s) as a new post. Be sure to title it (Name)'s before photo so that it can be easily found in the archive when you go to post an after photo.

Start posting!

Shawnie's before picture

So I decided to go for the front and back view. I figure the worse I look in the before pics than the better I'll look in the after pics. Now - no laughing, this takes courage plastering my ass all over the web...I don't see any of you skinny asses being the first to step up and post the pics!!

That's BAD!
What's worse is that I actually wore this outfit out of the house today...worse than that, I wore it to the mall!! YIKES!!

Holy Hip Hop!!!

Well tonight was officially my first night of dance class. I don't think that I have ever had a better work out in my life! I did unfortunatley discover that I am a 27 year old woman stuck in a 60 year old body :( Yikes!! There was about 8 of us, and all of us were beginners. There was no pressure, and a whole lot of fun!! I strongly recommend signing up for the next session!! I also used muscles that I never thought existed.

I LOVE BOLOGNA

Hey-- how unfair is this? I made a choice to eat a 6 point Bologna sandwich for lunch and a 100 Calorie pack of Cheeto's (only 2 points). (Yes, I haven't gone shopping yet.) With sandwich and cheeto's in hand, I sit down on the coach and relish my first bit. Within second's--you guesssed it---Abbey D. comes with mouth wide open like a little bird asking for "bite, bite". Of course I can resist and before I know it, she has eaten 1/2 my bag of cheeto's and 4 bites of my sandwich. It's not fun to share when you're on a diet. I LOVE BOLOGNA!!! Kath

Just something to help you laugh your ass off

~Brain cells come and brain cells go, but fat cells live forever
~Inside me lives a skinny woman crying to get out. But I can usually shut her up with cookies...
~By the time I'm thin, fat will be in
~Diets are for people who are thick and tired of it
~You can't lose weight without exercise. But I've got a philosophy about exercise. I don't think you should punish your legs for something your mouth did. Drag your lips around the block once or twice

Hallucinations

Night time....the worst time of day.....I feel great danger for my family......Scott walked past me a while ago...for one glorious moment I thought he was a Philly Cheesestake Sandwich....Could it be?...No..... I came to the upsetting realization when I found my self trying to take a bit out of his tender flanks....what is to happen next.....I just hope I don't visualize Reece's head as a gigantic Cinnabonn. For now I will settle for a string cheese and a diet Dr. Pepper.

Megzy

I Need A Row!!!

Anyone who knows me knows that when I say, "I need a row!", it means I will be treating myself to eating an entire row of Chips Ahoy cookies. I eat them for breakfast everyday, after lunch, and before bed. How will I ever read the paper in the morning again? It just isn't the same with a cereal bar. I need a new, healthier addiction. It's been 24 hours without my addiction. I'm going through withdrawl. Someone talk me down!!! I am hearing the song "Don't you want me baby?" in my head~ seeing those scrumptious little cookies driving in a convertible, just waiting to be picked up by my chubby little fingers......

Anne

Fish Tacos Anyone?

Yummy. I made fish tacos tonight and they turned out awesome! I won't bother giving y'all the recipe since I know most of you hate fish but they were 4 points per taco. I made rice and beans to go with which was 1 point for a whole cup. So dinner was 9 points and I am still very full. Fiber coming out my ears. . . or elsewhere. . .

So what's everyone's short-term goals? Mid-term? Short-term I want to drink my 8 glasses of water EVERY DAY this week. And I want to walk the mall on Thursday. Anyone want to join me? I have a Gymboree coupon! :-) I also will not eat in my van this week. Not once.

Day 1

Well, it is the end of day 1 and I have a headache the size of Mount Rushmore!! It could have something to do with the fact that I spent 10 hours at school today.. But mostly because I haven't had any caffinated or regular pop. (My weakness) I didn't find myself too hungry today because I was mostly busy with school. I actually had a few points to spare also!!! Tommarrow will be the big test since I will be home most of the day. Oh, yeah and I start my hip-hop dance class tommarow...very excited!! Good luck to us all....I know we could do it with eachothers support.....lean on eachother! When the goin' gets rough, don't go a eatin!!!

Fab and Flab Forever....(ok maybe not forever!!)

Megzy

How many licks?????

How many points is it to "FIX" your kids ice cream cone?? :)

FLABULOUS n FABULOUS

The day has arrived...... We have all decided to ban together, work together and loose the pounds. We need everyone to post a "before" picture. We know it won't be flattering but we are going to try to post another picture once you reach your first goal.
No...we don't need to know each others weight if you don't want to. However, please post your 'profile'--name, age, size (optional), and reason why you want to loose weight.
